Three ageing servers, each running one application, each needing its own power, backup and patching. Virtualisation solves this by running every server as a virtual machine on shared hardware. You use fewer boxes, you back up whole systems in one go, and when a host fails the machines start somewhere else. We design and install it for offices in Dubai and the UAE.
We work with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox VE, and we choose the platform that fits your applications, your team and your budget. We build the hosts, convert your existing servers to virtual machines, set up shared storage and backups, and show your team how to manage it.
Virtualisation is delivered by Najaha Solutions, our parent company in Al Karama, Dubai, operating since 2020. Our engineers install on site across the UAE and often combine this work with a server installation or a cabling upgrade in the same visit.
What is included
- An audit of your current servers: workloads, utilisation, storage, licences and what depends on what
- A design for the virtual environment: hosts, storage, network and platform, with the reasoning written down
- Host servers specified and installed, or your existing hardware prepared and reused where it is suitable
- VMware vSphere, Hyper-V or Proxmox installed, patched and configured to your design
- Existing physical servers converted to virtual machines and tested before the old ones are retired
- Shared storage and networking set up so machines can move between hosts
- Backup of whole virtual machines with snapshots and a tested restore, on site and off site
- High availability or failover where the budget and the workload justify it
- Resource monitoring and alerts so you see trouble before users do
- Documentation and a handover session for your IT staff or whoever looks after the system
How it works
1. Survey
We inventory every server and what runs on it, measure how busy each one really is and map the dependencies. This tells us how much hardware you actually need, which is usually less than you think.
2. Plan
A design and fixed quote: the platform, the hosts, the storage, the licences, the migration order and the dates. You see what moves when and what stays as it is.
3. Install
Hosts built and clustered, storage connected, networks separated for management, storage and users. Then each server is converted to a virtual machine and brought up alongside the original.
4. Test
Every application is tested by the people who use it. We fail a host on purpose to prove the machines come back, and we restore a machine from backup to prove the backup works.
5. Support
Documentation, handover and ongoing support from the engineers who built it. We keep the platform patched and help you add machines as the business grows.
VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox?
Hyper-V when you already run Windows Server and want to use the licences you have. VMware vSphere when you need the widest compatibility and your budget allows for it. Proxmox when you want capable open source virtualisation with lower licence costs. We set up and support all three and recommend based on your workloads, not on preference.
Will our applications still work as virtual machines?
Almost all business applications run unchanged, including accounting, ERP, file servers and domain controllers. Where an application needs a hardware licence dongle or a special card, we flag it in the survey and plan around it.
Is virtualisation the same as moving to the cloud?
No. Virtualisation runs your servers more efficiently on hardware in your office or a data centre you choose. Cloud hosting rents that hardware from someone else. Many UAE businesses virtualise on site first and keep the option to move specific workloads later. We can advise on both.
What happens if a host fails?
With shared storage and more than one host, the virtual machines restart on another host automatically. With a single host, the machines are restored from backup onto replacement hardware. We design to the level of resilience your business needs and can afford, and we test it before handover.
Who does the work?
Our own engineers in Al Karama, Dubai, on site across the UAE. Our Dubai team manages the project from survey to handover. If the virtual environment hosts a web application or portal we build for you, that software is engineered by our own team.
