Spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and off the shelf software get a business a long way. Then the spreadsheet has forty tabs, the subscription does not quite fit and the team is working around the tools instead of with them. A web application is software built for how your business works, available in any browser, with no installs and one place for the truth.
We build web applications for two kinds of client in Dubai and the UAE: companies that need a tool their team uses every day, such as an ordering system, a scheduling board or a reporting dashboard, and founders building a product they will sell. The discipline is the same. Understand the job, design the screens around it, build it in small releases and keep it running.
Our Dubai team has delivered ordering, recruitment and reporting applications, including a distributor ordering system that syncs with the client's ERP.
What is included
- Discovery and a written specification that describes every screen, rule and report in plain language
- Interface design for people who will use the application all day, where speed and clarity matter more than decoration
- A modern, maintained stack chosen for your project and your future developers, not for fashion
- Authentication, roles and permissions designed for how your organisation is actually structured
- Reports and dashboards that answer the questions you ask every week
- Integrations with payment gateways, ERP, CRM, email and SMS providers and the services your team already uses
- Automated tests on the paths that handle money, bookings and personal data
- Hosting architecture, backups and monitoring set up for the traffic you expect, with room to grow
- Documentation, a staged release and a month of support after launch
How it works
1. Discover
We watch how the work is done today, in the spreadsheet or the old system, and we list every step, exception and report. For a product, we define the first release that a real customer would pay for.
2. Plan
Specification, screens, data model and a fixed scope with price and timeline, broken into releases. Where something is uncertain we build a small proof of concept before committing to it.
3. Design
Every screen designed and clickable before code, reviewed by the people who will use it. We design the tedious parts properly, because an application is used a hundred times a day and small friction adds up.
4. Build
Code to published standards, reviewed by a second developer, with automated tests and a staging environment your team uses with real data. You see working software every week.
5. Launch and grow
A staged rollout, monitoring and a month of support, then a maintenance plan and a backlog of improvements. Applications are never finished, so we plan for that from the start.
What is the difference between a web application and a website?
A website informs and persuades. A web application does work: it stores data, applies rules and lets people complete tasks. Most of our clients need both, and we design them to share a brand and, where it helps, a login.
Which technology do you use?
Laravel or Node.js on the server, React or Vue.js in the browser, PostgreSQL or MySQL for data, hosted on AWS or a provider that suits your budget. We choose for your project and write the reasons down, so your next developer understands them.
Can you build a minimum viable product for a start up?
Yes. We help you define the smallest release a customer would pay for, build it in stages and leave the code ready to grow. We are honest about what to leave out, because the fastest way to a product is to build less.
Who does the development?
Our Dubai team runs discovery, specification and project management and stays close to you throughout. Engineering is shared with our team of more than forty specialists across India and South East Asia.
Who owns the application?
You do. Source code, design files and documentation are delivered in repositories you control. There are no licence fees for our work and no lock in.
How long does a web application take?
A first release of an internal tool can take a couple of months. A product with payments, roles and integrations takes longer and is released in stages. The plan fixes the timeline and the first release before design starts.
Can you take over an application another team built?
Yes. We start with a code and security review, tell you what we found in plain language, and agree a plan to stabilise it before adding features.
